In 2009, CPSQA Directors decided to respond to questions from outside the National Capital Region regarding the possibility of having meetings in other locations in Canada. Directors chose to pursue this option by establishing a process by which other cities or regions could organize CPSQA Chapters. To complement the existing National Capital Region Chapter, Directors decided to begin with two expansion pilot sites in 2009: - The Kingston Region Chapter - centred in Kingston - covering the area in and around Kingston; and
- The British Columbia Interior Chapter - centred in Kelowna - covering the Interior of the Province of British Columbia.
The plan is to liaise with those who have expressed interest in becoming involved with CPSQA, to provide information and coaching with respect to holding meetings. In addition, there will be website support in the form of regional pages where events of local interest can be posted. In due course, presentations made at regional meetings will be posted to the CPSQA Members Resource Centre where they can be accessed by Members across Canada. As part of the process of joining CPSQA online, future members will be asked to indicate which Chapter will the wish to have an affiliation when they complete work on their profile. They will be able to choose a "list" for their preferred chapter affiliation. This will allow focused emails for a chapter to reach all member wishing to be affiliated with a particular chapter. There will be, from time to time, emails of a more general interest that will be sent to all Members. The three locations of current CPSQA activities - at the summer of 2009 - are the following: - National Capital Region: NCR
- British Columbia Interior: B.C. Interior
- Kingston Region: Kingston
Activities listed on this site will be referenced by their Chapter designation. Accordingly, meeting reports for the National Capital Region will be designated NCR - and so forth for the other chapters. Applications for the formation of other Chapters will be considered beginning in January, 2010.It is anticipated there could be requests from the Lower Mainland of B.C., from Vancouver Island, from other parts of Ontario, from Alberta and Atlantic Canada. Only time will tell as word travels that CPSQA is prepared to expand to locations were a meaningful group of public sector adherents - from any and all levels of government decide to meet to share experiences and to learn from each other.
