Welcome to the CPSQA website

The site provides CPSQA with a foundation to expand our geographic reach and the public service community interested in organizational improvement.  Also, in the spirit of incorporating member feedback and continuous improvement, we’ve added functions to ease navigation and expand the resources available to Members.  Please be sure to provide us with any further enhancements that you may wish to have by emailing our Webmaster

CPSQA remains committed to being the leader in fostering quality management in the public sector.  We look forward to providing opportunities for you and your public sector colleagues at all levels to connect, share and learn. Be sure to return to this site often as it is our intention to continue to add content that will provide positive support to our public sector friends.

John Thomas, CPSQA Chair.

The CPSQA Elections

At our AGM April 15th, the Nominations Director presented a slate of Officers both for the CPSQA National Board and CPSQA's NCR Chapter Board. The new National Board Officers and other Directors are listed on our Directors page.

At the AGM, our new Chair John Thomas thanked Tristan Hovey, retiring Chair, for his tireless support for CPSQA and the public sector generally. Tristan brought his unique talents to both CPSQA and to the Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair as CPSQA Co-Chair. As the NQI Co-Chair, Don Wilson echoed John's very positive comments, saying that it had been a pleasure to work with Tristan on the Ottawa PSQF Committee. Tristan has agreed to continue as a CPSQA Director-at-Large and will continue to contribute to the Ottawa Public Sector Quality Fair.

Another retiring Officer, our Treasurer, deserves our sincere thanks. Ike Jaswal - one of the Charter Members of CPSQA - has held the Treasurer position for many years and done an admirable job. Our thanks to Ike who also has agreed to continue as a Director-at-Large.

The NCR Chapter Board members are listed separately and linked to our NCR Chapter home page. Visitors to this site will notice that the National and NCR Board Officers have the same names. It is anticipated that this will change for future years as the Chapter and NCR Boards begin to function separately.

Formation of two new CPSQA Chapters

During the summer of 2009, your Directors set up two pilot chapters, one in Kingston, Ontario and the other in Kelowna, British Columbia. At the same time, what had previously been the only active group in CPSQA became the National Capital Region (NCR) Chapter. This website is being updated to reflect the new structure and By-Laws are under review. The first of the new pilot chapters to hold a meeting was the new Kingston Chapter, on December 2nd. To read more about that event, log in and visit our Meeting pages that you will find in our Member Resources area. Our B.C. Interior Chapter is making plans to introduce CPSQA to cities of the Interior and is organizing a CPSQA information meeting to take place the first half of June, 2010.

Join CPSQA to get maximum benefit from this website

Visitors will quickly learn that to access many of our website features, you first will have to become a Member. Fortunately, that is not at all difficult, nor is there currently any cost to join. Becoming a Member will add you to the appropriate list to receive email meeting announcements and other items of interest.

NOTE: For those of you who are already Members, we ask that you complete a profile. Please take the time to re-establish your Membership right here on our site by selecting the Membership item from the menu above. It is easy and free - and it will give you access to some interesting quality information. While we could add your name from our earlier database, we would encourage each Member to take the time to re-join and complete your profile to assure good future communications.

Current plans include developing a French website and our Board is considering options for achieving this objective in the not-too-distant future, including arranging a financial supporter to help us develop the French site. As a start, for any information we receive that is in both English and French, both versions will be posted. A document prepared in French also may be posted in that language.
